Mos Def - The Ecstatic

Ok so Mos Def's album (The Ecstatic) did drop today. Unfortunately for me I slept the day away and wasn't able to run to the store and grab it. I'm madly plagued with INSOMNIA!!! But it seems like my best work is done at the hour of the crack head LOL. So I don't fight it. Hopefully I'll be able to hop on my bike and grab it tomorrow. I'm still learning my way around Sacramento so I may get lost on my quest to find this album. The good news, for those of us who were too lazy to run to the store and get the album, is that you can listen to the entire album on Mos Def's Myspace page. You don't even have to be a member in order to listen. Or if you're a member of Imeem.com you can listen to it here and add it to your favorites playlist.

Mos Def in the streets of Japan doing what he does best. Here's a few a cappella's from his up and coming album The Ecstatic, supposedly dropping June 9th 2009. Which happens to be today!!! Keep your fingers crossed. Now I've heard/read different dates for the drop of this HIGHLY ANTICIPATED album. So I really don't know what to expect today. I guess I'll just drop by a few music stores and pray they'll have it. Or I'll just lay in the cut and acquire it by pirate means. LOL. Either way I have to have my grubby paws on this album. =)

Ouija Board Art

I'm not very fond of Ouija Boards. For the simple fact of what they represent and the soul purpose of them being created. Haha get it? "Soul purpose!" Anyway, as a child my mother told me a story of my cousin not taking the game seriously and fooling around with one. After weird things started happening she took the Ouija Board and burned it. Now I've heard a few theory's on why you shouldn't burn a Ouija Board. The theory that stands out most in my mind is the fact it'll bring you bad luck. Now maybe it's a coincidence, but if you knew my cousin and the life she's had to live since burning that thing... You'd have to agree with whomever came up with that conclusion.

Now as an artist I had to tip my hat to the creator (Kid Acne) of these Ouija Boards. I love creating art on wood. There's something about the wood grain background that brings whatever you create on it to life.

definitely one of my more favorite songs ever due to the lyrical content alone -- "Spaceship" off Kanye's College Dropout album struck close to home with me.

having worked retail for as long as i've been able to work, and knowing the headaches that come with that profession i was able to relate to the song on so many levels.

yesterday on GLC's blog, he posted lost footage from his verse's portion of the video to the song.

concept of the video is dope, and i'm baffled as to why this never got serious rotation.
